Blum and Sons Electric is a large family owned and oriented electrical contractor located in beautiful downtown Carpinteria, CA. We currently have an opening for an AR Clerk.

This position completes accounts receivables and billing tasks including contract, time and material, and service billings. Only candidates that have this specific construction experience will be considered.

In addition to these tasks, some other administrative tasks to support the Controller may be assigned- some examples of these are paper and e-filing, research, and other special projects as assigned.

Job Description

SUMMARY:

Apply principles of accounting to produce and evaluate all aspects of accounts receivables, collections, progress billing, service dispatch/billing, time and material billing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a general understanding of accounting principles.

2. Must have ability to type 65 wpm and use of 10 key by touch.

3. Must have knowledge of general office duties.

4. Ability to comply within all regulatory requirements.

5. Must be willing and able to work within a team environment.

6. Keep good relations with other departments and Managers.

7. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet and Outlook email.

8. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills a must.

9. Ability to work independently with minimal instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following non-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned. All duties are to be performed in compliance with Blum & Sons Electric’s policies and procedures.

1. Input and maintain all company accounts receivable activity.

2. Produce monthly project profit and loss statements, and accounting reports.

3. Input and review budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts.

4. Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.

5. Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.

6. Resolve accounting discrepancies within AR and job costing.

7. Prepare and manage correspondence, reports and documents.

8. Service billing

9. Contract billings

10. Time and material billings

11. Meetings to go over all Blum & Sons Electric’s receivables

12. Process credit card payments

13. File prelims for Blum & Sons Electric

14. Verify all documentation is in place to strengthen BSE claims for payment i.e. executed contract, executed change orders, preliminary lien notice properly filed, documented collection attempts, track notice of completion, track lien rights, etc.

15. Coordinate payments with AP to receive lien releases from vendors.

16. Request, log, and send vendor releases

17. Maintain and request insurance certificates

18. Collections calls

19. Maintain correspondence logs for all collections

20. Research and apply unallocated cash.

21. Write-off bad debt as approved by the Controller

22. Miscellaneous Errands

23. Assign job numbers and set up project files

24. Gather info/jobsite # address etc.

25. Create/design forms – as needed

26. Other office type work as needed or requested
