Our mission at Harmonium is to promote well-being and self-sufficiency in children, youth, and adults through creative education, intervention, and prevention services rooted in collaboration with neighborhoods and families.

This position ensures the safety, security, and well-being of the children enrolled in the program. Implementation of homework assistance, arts and craft/special activities, recreation and supervision of children are primary responsibilities. Youth Program Leaders are responsible for supporting the healthy social/emotional development of children enrolled in the program in line with Early Childhood Development best practices. This includes using behavioral reinforcement programs, behavioral strategies to address problematic behavior, and strength-based approaches.

Opportunities for a combination of AM/PM Shifts are available at Ericson, Jerabek, Sandburg, and Hickman Elementary Schools!

Hours: Part time; 0 - 34 hours per week; Shifts are AM and PM hours

Salary: $13.56 per hour (rate increase!) (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience)

Benefits: 403b Retirement Plan with a match of up to 2% based on years of service; CA Paid Sick

Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 80 hours per calendar year

Minimum Competencies

18 years of age or older

Possess Community Care Licensing qualifications for child care Counselor, Section 101315, including at least 9 units and currently enrolled in at 3 units in early education, child, growth and development, recreation, humanities, or education including college work-study, volunteer or internship

A minimum of 6 months experience working, volunteering and/or interning with school-aged children programs such as day cares, recreation programs, social service agencies

Demonstrated ability in arts and crafts, games, and special activities

Ability to relate well to children and adults

Reliable automobile, valid CA Driver's license and maintain proof of current automobile insurance

CPR and First Aid certified

Valid TB results required

Pass Livescan Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)

Ability to substitute at other licensed locations throughout San Diego

Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis and measles or qualifies for an exemption from one of the following (new hires and existing staff will receive reimbursement up to $10 for proof):

- A determination by a licensed physician, in writing, that immunization is not safe because of their physical condition or medical circumstances

- A determination by a licensed physician, in writing, that they have evidence of current immunity

- In regard to the influenza vaccine only, a signed declaration that he or she has declined the vaccine
