The Staff or Sr. Staff Attorney is an in-house position that will handle a designated caseload of Workers’ Compensation cases with appearances before the California Workers' Compensation Boards in Marina Del Rey and Van Nuys. This is a fully remote position. This position will be part of collaborative learning environment with onsite appearances in partnership with our attorney staff and Claims Partners. Analyze legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
Prepare pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies with supervision
Responsible for handling lien litigation and occasional full defense strategies
Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims on legal and factual issues.
Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
Accountable for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases
Independently prepare and present witnesses evidence at: trials, judicial/administrative hearings, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolutions
Attend CLE seminars as needed
Strong legal research and writing skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are a must
Strong communication, computer and technological skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
Demonstrated expertise and familiarity in the handling of claim cases and litigation

Qualified Staff Attorney candidates will possess the following requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of legal experience is preferred
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in good standing in the state of California
Functional understanding of claims and litigation is preferred
Familiarity with the tripartite relationship is a plus!
Commitment to providing a high level of customer service
Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills
Ability to think strategically and desire to be challenged

Qualified Senior Staff Attorney candidates will possess the following requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of legal practice experience handling complex/life pension Workers’ Compensation cases
JD from accredited law school and license to practice in good standing in the state of California
Trial experience is preferred
Positive minded and collaborative team-player attitude
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Strong MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
Self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritization skills
Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
