Experience:
Four (4) years progressively responsible experience in the Solar Photovoltaic trade, two (2) years of which must have been in the installation and repair of Solar Photovoltaic systems.
Required Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the theory, principle, methods and techniques used in the installation, repair and maintenance of Solar Photovoltaic Systems and apparatus including Underwriter Rules for system cable and installation of Solar Photovoltaic equipment and system components. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable National Codes, specifically related to the Solar Photovoltaic trades and working with Solar Photovoltaic cables, equipment and system components. Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, and specifications; to communicate effectively and follow directions; to work in, on, around, over, and under fixed equipment and machinery; to work from lifts, ladders, scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tool, and supplies and/or exert force up to 70 pounds; work in hazardous or irritation environment, confined spaces, and adverse weather or temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
General Qualifications:
Technicians should be able to work at great heights and in small, enclosed spaces, as a lot of their work is done up ladders and poles or in specialized vehicles. Have a working knowledge of transmission, switching, control, and operation of Solar Photovoltaic systems.
