Job Title: Social Work Aide Status: Regular, Part-time Reports To: Social Work Supervisor
Location: Santa Cruz County, primarily working in Salinas.

New Families became a licensed nonprofit Foster Family Agency in June of 1998. Founder Janet Parske has served as the executive director for the past 20 years. With many years of experience in the field of social services, she is well-known as an outspoken advocate of childrens rights. She is joined by a highly dedicated and experienced staff, who work individually and as a team to provide case management, advocacy, and outreach for the foster children and resource families served by New families. We believe that every child in the foster care system deserves to find a safe, consistent, and loving home. Since 1998, New Families has helped place and support over 3,000 children in quality foster homes. We are proud to act as advocates for our foster children and families alike.
Position Overview
The Social Work Aide position provides children ages birth to 21 direct support and services and works as part of a childs team. This position offers a flexible schedule. The current need is primarily for afternoons, evenings and weekends.
General Responsibilities
Assist Social Worker with support services for foster children
Provide transportation as needed to activities or duties related to children
Plan productive and educational activities with the children
Help with case notes and annual reports
Implement weekly goals for the children
Attend meetings as needed
Strong conflict resolution and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Minimum of BS and 6 months experience
Or
Minimum of AS and one year experience
Or
Direct Client Supervision with a minimum of 2 years experience demonstrating a combination of
education and experience that meets the specific needs of the target population
Minimum of 40 hours of training that includes; Trauma, Behavioral De-escalation Techniques, Implementing Individual Needs and Service Plans for Children, and Infant, child and adult CPR & First Aid (The 40 hours of required training can be taken during the onboarding process)
Must have a valid drivers license for at least 3 years and a clean driving record
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have an automobile and current automobile insurance
High school graduate or GED. Bachelors level student preferred.
Fluent in Spanish is preferred
Experience working with children
Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
Strong desire for continued growth and learning
