Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.Summary: Facebook is seeking a Software Engineer Intern, HW System to join our Server Design Team. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. By holding this role, you will be an integral member of a small software team to build a full server management software stack which runs on large scale of hardware systems across the whole Facebook infrastructure. You will have an opportunity to play role of building the open source solution for the industry, covering development, deployment and operation in data center environment. Come work and learn alongside our expert software engineers to build next generation data center management software.This role requires strong communication skills, as well as comprehensive troubleshooting and analytical skills. This internship is 12 or 16 weeks in summer 2020 and located in either our Menlo Park (CA) or Austin (TX) office.Required Skills:

Develop server management software solution OpenBMC for our next generation hardware platforms.

Design and develop the code base of software framework for scalability and extensibility, which will enable faster project development.

Actively collaborate with industry partners to build and evolve open source ecosystem around our server management software stack.

Minimum Qualifications:

Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education

Strong development experience in C and C

Experience in systems software or algorithms

High levels of creativity and quick problem solving capabilities

Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with Linux kernel, IPC, and device driver model

Scripting capability with python, PHP or perl

Familiar with latest server architecture and components

Familiar with ARM based micro controller software stack
