Constantly looking for and identifying actionable and thought-provoking opportunities for the company and executing them.GENERAL SUMMARYThe Cultural Strategist is a vital part of Team One?s cultural anthropology practice within the strategic planning department. The ideal candidate is highly-motivated, naturally curious about and attuned to culture, consumers, and brands, and has a working knowledge of analytical tools, data platforms and research methods (quantitative and qualitative) for uncovering and sharing insights. Additionally, the ideal candidate has experience with strategic planning, consumer insights, or market research at an advertising agency, brand consultancy, research supplier, or client side.They are excited about the prospect of helping to grow the agency?s cultural anthropology practice in partnership with the director, employing creative research and analytical methodologies, and building cultural intelligence deliverables to inform the work we do as an advertising agency. They are someone who is passionate about learning from people and culture, translating them into actionable insights, and inspiring strategists, creatives, and clients.In addition to maintaining subject matter expertise and being the day-to-day point person on the agency?s thought leadership initiative The Global Affluent TribeTM, the Cultural Strategist will contribute to client-specific strategy development, as well as new business efforts, through insights, POVs, primary and secondary research, and other deliverables.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

A go-to-person/subject matter expert for Global Affluent TribeTM related research data and insights. They would be responsible for socializing and applying findings within the agency and on client deliverables, and fulfilling ad-hoc requests related to this thought leadership initiative.

Support Global Affluent TribeTM quantitative and qualitative studies, including ideation and design, project management, moderation, analysis and report development, in collaboration with the practice director.

Support practice director in writing reports, custom POVs, briefs and promotional content.

Support and participate in brainstorms and workshops.

Proactively collaborate with and support strategists, analysts, and creatives to ensure a culturally astute perspective is a part of all the work we do.

Monitor luxury, affluent and cultural trends, and socialize insights through regular newsletters or other channels. Co-lead cultural briefings to the agency and assist with providing cultural inspiration/fodder for ideation to creative teams.

Build and maintain cultural intelligence database.

Develop expertise with quantitative and qualitative analysis tools (e.g., cross-tabulation software, Dedoose, Atlas.ti, etc.), social listening platforms (e.g., Netbase), and other research tools and methods (MRI, Stylus, semiotics, text analysis, etc.).

Support agency new business pitches, and client-specific strategy or primary/secondary research projects as needed.

Reports to Director, Cultural Anthropology

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A university degree from an accredited four-year program. Preferably trained in cultural anthropology, cultural analysis, sociology or similar field. Graduate degree is a plus.

Familiarity with social science theories and literature, as well as cultural methods and frameworks, including but not limited to ethnography, semiotics, culture mapping, text analysis, etc., a plus.

Experience or interest in luxury/premium brands or affluent consumers a plus.

Prior strategic planning, consumer insights or market research experience preferred.

This person must be highly organized, hard-working, able to set tasks and meet deadlines, can handle ambiguity and multiplicity of assignments and the pressure of quick turnaround times.
