SummaryAbout the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. Police Staff may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage on various situations. Day shift is: Mon - Thurs or Thurs - Sun 0530-1800, Night shift: Mon -Thurs or Thurs -Sun, 1730-0600. All shifts are 4 shifts per week 12.5 hours per shift. Shifts may rotate.ResponsibilitiesServes as police officer on installation with conventional ammunition, supply and maintenance mission, and general supply mission.Patrols assigned areas on depot to detect, apprehend, arrest or cite offenders of federal or state laws or violation of a regulationConducts security patrols in industrial and storage areas to enforce security regulations, plans, and policies.Dispatches police, fire and emergency units to scenes of crimes, accidents and natural disasters.Monitors Security Communications Systems such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV); Intrusion Detection's System (IDS); and telephone/radio systems.Assists with training of security guards in law enforcement techniques, policies, procedures, reports, and investigative needs required of the guard force.Recommends to the supervisor and director, changes in the organization of work or assignment of functions in order to improve work flow and service coverage, promote job satisfactions, and increase productivity.In absence of Supervisory Guard, incumbent may be required to provide short term, limited supervision over guards assigned to the same shift.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes enforcing laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures; protecting the health, safety, privacy, or best interest of the public, staff, or others who may be at risk.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).EducationSome federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.Additional InformationMale applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
