In particular, this position requires a close working relationship with the college's PR/Marketing department. As such, the Webmaster position requires strong interpersonal and project management skills. Ideal candidates will have a history of taking on large, complex projects with many stakeholders and completing deadlines. Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience with the following: Enterprise content management systems (CMS) Modern web UI design patterns, languages, frameworks, and tooling Modern web UX best practices, color theory, interface design, and mobile-first development Migrating legacy web application systems (ex: ad hoc PHP, JavaScript, Apache) to modern frameworks and systems; developing documentation and managing change across an institution with users having a variety of different levels of technical competency Basic system scripting, including, but not limited to, PowerShell Version control systems (VCS), such as Git and Team Foundation Server Butte College's main campus is located on a 928-acre wildlife refuge and we pride ourselves on being a national college leader in sustainability. The Webmaster will take responsibility for the successful deployment of the integrated suite of applications and content on the District's Web site and will act as a liaison between the Information Technology and Public Relations departments. Provides support to web content managers.

Representative Duties:

The essential duties of the class are indicated with an asterisk Assists in the development and maintenance of the strategic plan for the District's Web presence. Assists in developing and refining the objectives for the District's Web site through consultation with constituencies, stakeholders, management and steering committees Develops and evolves Intranet and Extranet Web architectures to meet objectives of the website. Architectural considerations include content, navigation methods / links, display templates, content display designs and Web policies Develops template designs that specify display standards for departmental Web pages in consultation with departments and web content managers Evaluates the effectiveness of the Web presence in meeting the goals of the District and expectations of constituencies Develops and maintains specified content on Web pages Assists departmental users in developing and displaying content by facilitating group training, through one-on-one assistance and by managing consultant support as required Procures, configures and maintains software and hardware to maintain fault tolerant Web servers Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and corrects problems with technical system functionality and content display Coordinates with Web application developers (database applications, streaming media, etc.) to achieve system functionality that meets District Web objectives and to ensure the successful deployment of these applications on the Web Coordinates with content developers and managers from departments to ensure that their content meets District Web objectives Communicates with constituencies, stakeholders and management regarding information on the District's Web presence Develops methods to assess and assesses the compliance of District Web pages with established templates and policies Develops methods to efficiently identify non-functioning URL hyperlinks on the District's Web site Develops appropriate interfaces to Web search engines to maximize navigation on the District's Web site Assists in development and implementation of methods and policies which departmental users can use to maintain their Web pages Assists with the development and implementation of other Web policies and standards Organizes work in a project structure suitable for managing projects, schedule and performance milestones to achieve objectives and stay on schedule. Provides periodic reports to management regarding current status of schedule and performance Performs research and analysis on emerging web technologies May serve on a variety of District committees as requested May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's Degree or the equivalent; AND Three (3) years of work experience developing and managing Web sites as a Web developer or Webmaster; AND Graduation from high school, G.E.D. or the equivalent Associate's Degree education equivalency equals two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience for each full year (24-30 units) of college. High school education equivalency equals an adult education diploma or four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience.DIVERSITY QUALIFICATIONS: Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity and sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate's Degree in computer science, Web development, or an equivalent field. WOW Certified Professional Webmaster (CPW) or equivalent certification. Hold and maintain a valid driver's license throughout duration of employment with the District.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: May be acquired through education, training and/or experience.Knowledge of: District policies and procedures; project management methods and techniques; Web server administration; file system maintenance methods and file conversion techniques; modern web browser capabilities; operating systems and web server technology such as Microsoft IIS, Apache; Common programming languages, middleware programming, and scripting languages used to build/maintain websites; Databases and database integration, e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Open Database Connectivity (ODBC); Microsoft Office products and Microsoft web development tools; and ADA and Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Section 508 requirements regarding the design of Web access for individuals with disabilities.Ability to: Interpret District policies and procedures; use basic composition, page layout, art and presentation packages such as FrontPage, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuarkXpress, PageMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop; Perform the duties identified above; take the initiative to organize work and accomplish objectives; organize and manage projects involving committee work; make decisions; independently apply good judgment; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work; work with diverse populations; communicate effectively through oral and written expression; make presentations; and diagnose technical problems and accurately develop solutions; utilize keyboarding skills commensurate with the required functions for this position; keep records and prepare reports and spreadsheets; work independently with an emphasis on detail management; complete work assignments according to established deadlines; maintain and follow schedules, calendars and timelines; use problem solving skills.

Supplemental Information:

WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:No assigned permanent staff to supervise. May provide task assignment, work direction and/or training to short-term and/or student employees, as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT:Normal office environment subject to occasional lifting of moderately heavy items (20 to 50 lbs), such as; monitors, CPU's, printers and other related computer parts; occasional walking and standing; may require sitting for extended periods of time; requires dexterity in the use of fingers for the operation and manipulation of equipment and supplies.
