Full Time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist/Lab &IV Manager

Health for Life Naturopathic Medicine is looking to hire a full-time Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist/lab manager/IV manager for Mondays-Friday range between the hours 8am-6pm. Hours may range from 32-40+ hours/week depending on holidays and work load. Starting pay $20-25/hr based on experience. At this time no insurance benefits are available, eligibility for paid time off starts after 3 months and will continue to accrue with tenure. This office is a family medical practice which utilizes an integrative medical approach to medicine, you will see patients ranging from infancy to geriatric. This position has heavy emphasis on patient care to include vitals, numerous daily blood draws and specimen processing and IV therapy. You must be comfortable with venipuncture for infants, children and adults (experience a must).

Minimum job requirements:

1. High School diploma and an accredited Medical Assistant certification, phlebotomy certification or nursing degree (must provide copy)

2. Ability to pass basic math and grammar test as well as practical exam to include vitals and phlebotomy

3. Microsoft Office proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook (experience with Quickbooks a huge plus)

4. 5 years total work experience with 3 year minimum work history in the medical field

5. Ability to work independently but also as team player

6. Personable with patients and willingness to learn new things

The job expectations are categorized in three areas:

1. Administrative- EMR experience a must, answering phones, schedule patient visits, billing patients, receiving payments, manage physician calendar and assist time management with patients, supply ordering, office cleaning and organizing, etc. Person must have strong communication skills with a kind phone presence with answering and assisting patient requests.

2. Medical skills- performing blood draws (must have 3 year minimum phlebotomy work experience and be confident in this skill not including externships, will be tested during interview, pediatric draws are part of job requirement), injections, vaccine administration, assist with pap smears, help manage acupuncture patients, patient vitals, monitor patient IV's, order IV supplies/medical supplies, prescription call in's, assist physician in procedures, rooming patients, time management with patient flow. This position will have expectations for developing systems for organization and inventory tracking. You will be expected to be able to multi-task to include performing blood draws, processing lab samples, monitoring IVs for patients, taking patient vitals for practice of 3 physicians and keeping scheduling moving in an organized fashion. This job is a busy position, you will be on your feet and expected to keep practice flow moving, this is not a desk job.

3. Other- clean medical office, organize and order medical/lab supplies, work great with children, have an attitude of readiness and willing to learn new tasks, ability to lift 30 lbs

The ideal candidate would also have the ability to develop the following skills over time:

1. Assist with front office manager any additional duties, with occasional need to take time at front desk

2. Medical supply organization, inventory and ordering system, as well as supply stocking of clinic.

3. Develop level of independence after learning from and observing our head physician and current staff.

4. Quickbooks experience a plus
