City PhoenixState ArizonaTelecommute NoDepartment Laboratory Medicine & PathologyWhy Mayo Clinic Night Shift- Mayo Clinic Hospital Inpatient Phlebotomy positionPosition descriptionPerforms venipuncture, collects blood, and provides appropriate post-care of phlebotomy site.Prepares various specimens for analysis while maintaining positive patient identification.Performs specimen processing in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.Performs order entry; retrieves and verifies patient collection data and patient special notations using appropriate sources.Cooperates with coworkers in the completion of assignments and sets priorities for specimen collection.Employs standard precautions, infection control, and proper isolation techniques.QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of phlebotomy, specimen handling, central processing or medical assisting is required.Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy or medical assisting program required.High School diploma or GED required.Additional qualificationsPrior hospital experience preferred.Familiarity with lifespan growth and development, basic anatomy, physiology, and basic medical terminologyAbove average communication skills and strong attention to detailProven ability to deal effectively with people in stressful situationsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to learn and utilize multiple computer systemsAbility to push/pull phlebotomy cart and suppliesExperience in a hospital and/or clinical pathology environment preferred.Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.Exemption status Non-exemptCompensation DetailEducation, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
