Job Description

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona is a local, independent Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and a not-for-profit health insurance company headquartered in Phoenix.

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, the Manager of Marketing Operations will manage a group of Marketing Specialists, working with the specialists to ensure projects are on time and on budget.

Optimize process and procedures to most effectively manage work flow. Work closely with the Marketing Managers to make sure business / segment needs are met and the department can flex to meet competing needs.

They will ensure organization and completion of cross segment initiatives, that the Marketing Managers execute. They will execute marketing strategies including advertising, public relations, digital initiatives, direct marketing, internal and external communications, market research, competitive intelligence, audience segmentation, and message development as needed.

Optimize work flow by making sure the appropriate processes and procedures are in place and flex to meet business needs.

Coordinate information and requirements with related operational departments.

Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing standards.

Help to establish timelines and manage schedules across segments.

Collaborate with Marketing Managers to make sure all business needs are met.

Manage project schedules to ensure accountability of project deliverables while flexing based on needs and department bandwidth.

Stay up to date on trends in marketing operations, project management, etc.

Have a keen eye for detail and make sure all materials are on strategy and error free.

Participate in annual budget-setting.

Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing support team.

Hold cross functional teams to high standards and error free work.

Mentor employees to aid in their development and growth.

Help to onboard and train new department staff.

Lead and coach staff.

Integrate and align brand / company strategy in all marketing efforts.

Be versed in both B2B and B2C marketing strategies.

Create marketing plans to include goals, messaging, target audience, strategy, tactics, timing, reporting and budget as needed.

Manage all marketing channels including advertising, collateral, direct marketing websites, and other channels to educate, sell and retain members, prospects, brokers and employers as needed.

Develop value proposition, messaging matrix, creative briefs and other messaging to inform communications strategy as needed.

Effectively communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees;

initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills / Requirements

Required Work Experience 5 years of Marketing or Marketing Operations experience

Required Education High school diploma

Preferred Work Experience 3 years Project Management experience 6 years of Marketing experience

Preferred Education Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field Master’s degree in Marketing or related field

Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities.
