JOB DESCRIPTION
ANIMAL HANDLER/CARETAKER
AT FOR THE LUV OF PAWS - A NO-KILL DOMESTIC ANIMAL SANCTUARY
(Not a comprehensive list)
First priority: Care and handling of dogs, socializing
Feed/water; clean igloos/houses; maintain kennels
misting system, water softener, hoses, etc.
Kennels: Maintenance, repair, level ground, insulate PVC
for winter, maintain filter system for water
softener
Maintenance of
Equipment: Water softener, water tank, swamp coolers, golf
carts, generators, spigots, faucets, tarps, kennel
gates and panels, water lines, drip system, drains
Painting of metal fixtures
Maintenance of
grounds: Raking, weeding, spraying for bugs/weeds, trim
bushes, dead limbs on trees, etc.
Winter projects: Consists of projects not able to be done in summer
heat: Inventory; garage clear/clean out; donations
gathered to be given to charity or homeless, etc.
First priority: Daily care, handling and socialization of dogs; feeding, watering; walking/leash and basic commands training.
Kennels: Maintenance/repair of chain link gates and panels; leveling ground, maintenance and cleaning of kennels and igloos; shade tarps replacement.
Equipment: Maintenance of misting system, filter system for water softener, water storage tank, swamp coolers, golf carts, generators, spigots, water lines & drains.
Grounds: Raking, weeding; maintenance of drip system; spraying for bugs and weeds, trimming bushes.
Transport/driver: Transport of animals pulled from county shelter to the rescue; transport of animals to veterinarian appointments and/or adoption events; pick up of feed, supplies. Current driver's license required.
Accommodations: This is a 'live in' position; studio apartment and/or furnished fifth wheel and all utilities provided, plus salary.
Applicant: Should be able bodied, a self starter, but willing to adhere to protocols and instruction; have transportation; rescue is 25 miles from nearest town. Experience in animal care preferred, but will train. Background check and drug test required.
