Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Division manager, the shop Leader will be responsible for delegating and scheduling work assigned to the Shop as well as coordinating work with other shop leads as needed as well as with subcontractors when appropriate. Will also have direct communication with company management while still performing duties as a working member of the shop completing preventative maintenance or repair of various equipment and vehicles.
Primary Duties:
Responsible for daily issuance of work tasks, establishing work priorities and ensuring all employees are meeting deadlines
Verify daily time-sheets, track personnel leave requests to ensure adequate manpower is available to meet work load.
Ensure all employees are trained, understand and follow required HAZCOM, employee “right to know” and all safety related requirements.
Promote a positive, safe and professional work environment
Facilitates all equipment, tool and part purchases efficiently, completely and accurately
Track work orders and material requests, request delays when appropriate
Conducting preventative maintenance, repair and associated documentation
Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical problems on various equipment
Accurately maintain shop inventories and ensure accountability
All other duties as assigned by Management

Education, Experience, Skills:
High school education or G.E.D equivalent
Must be able to communicate clearly (oral and written) in the English language with both internal and external clients and co-workers
Valid Driver’s License
Must have good documentation and organizational skills
Musty have strong problem-solving skills
Must be well versed in company policies such as safety, employee conduct, workplace violence and sexual harassment
Must have strong leadership and team building skills
May be required to work weekends, holidays and after hours as part of a rotating call out schedule
Preferred
Ability to obtain a Valid Commercial Drivers License
Minimum of two 2 years of experience managing a team
Previous experience in Microsoft excel, office and word
Experience in both heavy and light vehicle repair and maintenance

Job is performed in various settings at the USCG Base Kodiak, in office settings as well as in the various shops, commercial buildings, residential housing units, mechanical rooms and potential confined spaces in all type of inclement weather conditions.

Must be able to complete criminal record background check
Must be able to drive a company vehicle and be insured
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance necessary
Must comply with all company policies
Must maintain good standing with the Local 959 Teamsters Union
