Looking for someone to fill immediate position through to September 1st. Require two negative COVID test results prior to boarding vessel.
Responsible for cooking all meals, developing menus and maintaining an appropriate inventory of food supplies, clean and maintain galley, aboard an 86ft research vessel. Conform to state health and safety standards required to operate a galley on board the vessel.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform duties in a safe and seamanlike manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Plan daily menus and prepares three well-balanced nutritious meals for crew and passengers (20), accommodating dietary requests including but not limited to vegan and vegetarians.
Perform cleanup chores in mess hall, galley, storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers; washes and cleans dishes, utensils and equipment.
Food Inventory - orders food stuffs required for three meals a day during the length of the journey at sea; purchases additional foodstuffs at other ports; receives, inspects, and stores supplies and equipment; inventories and records food usage for guidance in future ordering; maintains the sanitation levels required to store food.
Miscellaneous – receives general supervision from the Ship’s Captain, assists with loading, lashing and unloading of cargo, handle mooring lines, fuel and freight as needed, other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Current Food Worker Card, ServeSafe or similar
Two years professional cooking experience which includes 1 year cooking on a vessel
CPR/First Aid certification
Must pass pre-employment drug screen, reference checks and background check.
Must have sufficiently acute hearing, eyesight and depth perception to meet the demands of at-sea service. Must be capable of using escape hatches and boarding /disembarking survival craft unassisted.
Ability to live in close quarters and maintain healthy attitude.
