Job Description

Friends of Seniors is a program of Catholic Community Service connecting volunteers with seniors in the Juneau community. Our mission is provide vital support and friendly assistance to help our elders maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life as they face the challenges of aging. The Friends of Seniors Volunteer Coordinator duties will include developing program operations and standards; recruiting, selecting, and training FoS volunteers; coordinating referrals, assessing participants’ needs, and determining suitability; scheduling volunteers, maintaining volunteer/participant assignments, and providing ongoing standard evaluations; supervising volunteers; overseeing maintenance of participant and volunteer files; reporting program outcomes per grant and CCS requirements; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in human service or related is preferred. Or in lieu of bachelor’s degree, experience working with persons 60 years and over and/or experience in non-profit, human service settings. Must possess knowledge of and capacity to communicate well with the elderly. Willingness and enthusiasm to work with people of all faiths, races, backgrounds, ages and experiences.

Must demonstrate computer aptitude with word processing, desktop publishing, database and spreadsheet programs, in addition to phone and email etiquette.

Compensation and Benefits

This position is full-time, 37.5 hours a week. Starting wage is $26-28/hour DOE. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, a 403(b) Thrift Savings Plan, paid time off and 12 paid holidays annually.
