Classification: Part-time will likely transition to Full-Time (contingent on funding).

Supervisor: Executive Director

Salary: Dependent on education and experience.

Summary: Family Promise of Juneau is seeking an energetic, creative, compassionate, organized and flexible person to join our team to provide case management services to our guest families. The primary responsibility of the Family Support Specialist is to assure guest families receive and utilize the tools necessary to become self-sufficient. While holding guest families accountable to the program, assist them to move into and remain in affordable, sustainable housing.

Responsibilities:

Conduct telephone screenings and initial contact with prospective families.

Participate in all potential guest family’s intakes with the Executive Director.

Assist families with navigating the social services system.

Provide weekly, documented case management for guest families.

Maintain written documentation of all visits, goals, and updates.

Maintain a census and graduation rate of at least 75%.

Conduct one group meeting at least by-weekly with families in shelter. Provide an environment for problem-solving. This gives an opportunity for guests to work through their differences.

Perform routine office/clerical duties as required.

Comply with all policies and procedures of Family Promise of Juneau.

Provide educational offerings to families.

Work with guest families to maintain Day Center.

Perform exit process with families including exit interview, and a budget and meetings for up to 6 months post-exit.

Maintain updated Resource List.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in social work or human services or equivalent work experience.

Any work and/or life experiences which contribute to maturity and sensitivity to others

Desire to work within our mission to end family homelessness.

Demonstrate experience in crisis intervention, problem-solving and resource allocation.

Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and reprioritize, as needed.

Work independently with minimal direction.

Flexibility and adaptability to a fluid work environment.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Good computer skills.

Strong written and verbal skills.

Valid Driver’s license and a good driving record.
