Assistant Landlord at Housing First

The Assistant Landlord is responsible for all landlord operations and delivery of landlord duties using a housing first philosophy. This position is located in Housing First, to respond to the needs of the tenants and keep proper documentation for 64 apartments.

FILE MANAGEMENT:

Keep accurate and organized files for 64 tenants

Complete and assist with new tenant paperwork

Complete and assist with all program audits

Complete lease recertification’s in a timely manner

Enter tenant information into database; update regularly

Communicate with Tlingit and Haida Regional Housing Authority contractor

Weekly rent roll oversight which includes: rent and security deposit payments

Complete monthly notices

Attend training's for Home Quality Standards (HQS’s)

Complete all necessary HQS’s for the entire building

Assist with other duties that arise or deemed by supervisor

TENANT SERVICES:

Respond to tenant’s questions regarding their lease and rent amounts

Address ongoing lease violations with tenants using the housing first philosophy

Develop strong working relationships with tenants

Complete and assist with evictions when the team has deemed one necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass JHFC background check.

Must have high school diploma/GED. Degree not required but preferred.

Basic understanding of Alaska landlord tenant act and HUD.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Must demonstrate excellent communication.

Must hold firm boundaries with tenants and exhibit follow-up.

Must have consistent delivery of services with Housing First philosophy.

Must have a profound respect and compassion for all people.

Must support Housing First Philosophy: Housing is a human right.

Must have strong organizational skills

Must have paperwork processing and computer skills.

Must uphold ethical practices.

Must exhibit non-judgmental attitude and ability to demonstrate empathy.

Must be able to work independently and complete training.

Must have strong problem solving skills, flexibility, and ability to multi-task.

Must be able to do some travel for training
