Juneau Veterinary Hospital seeks a dependable, compassionate, and friendly veterinary assistant/receptionist for immediate hire. Candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced, professional environment. Experience preferred. Hours are Monday-Friday, 32 hrs/week.
Candidate must pay attention to detail and be comfortable working with both people and animals. This job requires multitasking and outstanding customer service and communication skills.
Key Duties:
Reception – assist clients and their pets, answer phones, schedule appointments, and perform paperwork tasks
Maintain the clinic in a clean and organized state, clean exam rooms, kennels, and surgical areas, do laundry, wrap packs
Laboratory - collect, prepare, process, and mail specimens
Animal handling and restraint
Work cooperatively with veterinarians, staff members, and clients
Conduct oneself with professionalism, integrity, resourcefulness, and care
Other duties as directed
Hours:
Monday 8 am – 12 noon; 2 pm – 6 pm
Tuesday/Thursday 12 noon – 6 pm
Wednesday/Friday 8 am – 2 pm
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Two years of customer service or community service experience.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with both people and animals.
Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Able to learn and operate a computerized veterinary scheduling system.
Able to adapt to performing tasks according to set procedures.
Able to anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
