The Shareholder Development Manager advances training, development and enrichment opportunities for Sealaska shareholders. This position is responsible for promoting shareholder benefits and advancement opportunities available for shareholders and descendants at Sealaska, and proposes, develops, manages, implements and administers programs and activities that support that goal.This role is responsible for forging and managing strategic partnerships on behalf of Sealaska in the areas of language revitalization, education, workforce development and economic development. This position is accountable for helping shareholders identify career pathways and achieve educational attainment goals. This person works with communities throughout Southeast Alaska to gather input and establish connections to help enhance and sustain local economies. The position is responsible for supporting shareholders in the areas of scholarships, internships, career opportunities and other Sealaska education benefits.

Lead shareholder development programs that include culturally relevant components.

Develop, implement and sustain a language revitalization program that effectively administers grants to organizations helping to perpetuate the traditional languages of the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people.

Effectively manage and equitably administer funding that will help ensure language leaders, support organizations and future fluent speakers can apply for monetary support through the endowment.

Support the development of language revitalization programs that will ensure the cultures and languages of the region are taught, documented and easily accessible.

Streamline Sealaska’s processes to help assist language learners in accessing funds to help enhance and effectuate language learning.

Assess workforce development needs across the Sealaska family of companies.

Work with managers and Human Resources to ensure formal and informal shareholder development programs are established.

Travel to Southeast communities and Sealaska worksites to effectively identify, encourage and work with shareholders interested in development opportunities.

Evaluate the effectiveness of shareholder development programs, and improve them as necessary.

Creatively market to and recruit shareholders to participate in programs.

Partner with Sealaska’s companies to help them achieve their shareholder development goals.

Track and report on quantifiable and concrete measures taken in support of shareholder development.

Establish relationships with external businesses and organizations to promote and support shareholder employment and development efforts.

Serve as a conduit between shareholders and the communications department.

Must be a Sealaska shareholder or shareholder descendant.

Bachelor's degree in education, business administration, liberal arts or related degree and 5-8 years of related experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional five years of management experience can be substituted. Experience in Communications, Human Resources, Business Administration, Education or Workforce Development is preferred.

Experience leading successful employee-development programs.

Must have a high level of interpersonal skill to handle sensitive and confidential situations as well as build positive relationships with shareholders and internal and external partners.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies – including other Sealaska companies – reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning. The employee in this position will need to manage multiple concurrent tasks and handle frequent interruptions.Environment (Working conditions, physical requirements):

This position will require moving of up to 10 lbs. This position will be mostly stationary requiring some movement around the office and frequent communication with others. The average working hours will be 8 hours per day for this position with occasional need to exceed.
