Juneau Coop preschool is seeking applicants for a variety of possible positions for the 2020 2021 school year. As with everything related to COVID-19, many of our plans are in the air, but we are preparing for multiple different scenarios and as such, we are trying to assemble a pool of potential candidates for positions ranging from temporary substitutes all the way up to full-time teaching/aide positions.
Experience: high school degree or equivalent is required for all applicants. College degree as well as experience in childcare is encouraged and required for some of the more full-time positions.
About JCP.
JCP is the largest play-based preschool in Juneau and has been around for the last 35+ years. We pride ourselves on creating age-appropriate activities while allowing children the freedom to engage in what they are most interested in. We are working on ways to preserve our model as much as possible while also making sure to ensure the safety of our children and families during this time of uncertainty.
Our Preschool has three programs: Preschool Plus which is Monday through Friday 9 AM to 3 PM (limit seven kids), Monday Wednesday Friday from 9 to 12 (13 kids max), and Tuesday/Thursday from 9 to 12 (13 kids max). So with full enrollment we have 20 kids in the morning and seven kids in the afternoon. These numbers are subject to change based on changing state mandates and group size limits, but currently still fall within the range.
Duties vary depending on the position needed which can range from being the aide to the establish teachers in the class or potentially being one of the lead teachers in the class. This can involve set up and prep of daily activities for kids, Cleaning to ensure that we maintain high levels of sanitation, overseeing/instructing kids in daily activities, etc
