Control Technician in a Range Control facility.

About the Location: Fairbanks-many cultures; fishing, hunting,

hiking, camping, snowboarding and skiing; spectacular Northern

Lights; larger than life ice sculptures. Population 87,000.

Winter-snow Nov thru Mar, temps average 8 degrees F to minus 19

Operate five or more range-control radio nets to control ranges

and live fire maneuvers.

Issue detailed instructions to training units throughout the US

Army Alaska (USARAK) Training Complex who are conducting live

ammunition firing on hundreds of ranges, firing points and

training areas.

Provide limited maintenance support to Range Facility.

Utilizes a personal computer and Local Area Network (LAN) to

operate the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness

determination, as determined by a completed background

investigation.

This position is subject to an irregular tour of duty, which may

include evenings, weekends, and holidays and shift work

necessary to cover 24 hours-a-day, 7 days per week operation.

Overtime may be required.

This position requires occasional exposure to extreme arctic

weather conditions while driving on hazardous roads and terrain,

while operating a variety of ATVS, snow machines, or other

motorized vehicles.

This position requires normal depth perception and color vision,

acute hearing, ability to speak clearly and to communicate

effectively.

This position requires a pre-employment physical and subsequent

annual physical while employed in this position.

This position requires the ability to lift equipment weighing

over 40 pounds unassisted and significantly heavier materials

with assistance.

This position requires possession of a valid state driver's

license.
