Job Description
Do you have a passion for our homeless individuals in Fairbanks? Would you like to be a part of a team that works directly with this vulnerable population? Then consider applying of IAC’s open position: Encampment Outreach Case Manager.
In this position, you will coordinate encampment outreach at least twice a week with staff and community providers, advocate on behalf of program participants to access community support and resources, offer case management services for homeless individuals living in encampments and squatting, and provide access to transportation, emergency medication, treatment not covered by health insurance or Medicaid, and other incidentals in keeping with identified procedures. Additionally, this position will provide referrals and facilitate access to community resources and support, maintain accurate client records and statistics and will work with the Encampment Peer Support Specialist and Administrative Assistant to set up systems for addressing needs of individuals and connecting with community resources.
Minimum qualifications for this position include the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or closely related field; sufficient job experience may be used in lieu of education; valid AK Driver’s License and 4 wheel drive vehicle; An ability to travel by foot to provide outreach to encampments, parks and other remote areas. They must be proficient with computers, ability to do data entry, excellent verbal skills, and interpersonal, group, and written communication skills and have the ability to pass a background check to allow entry into a DOC facility.
