Biomedical Equipment Technician - Dialysis Clinic (Fairbanks)

We are currently seeking an energetic team player to fill this critical role at our dialysis clinic in Fairbanks, Alaska.

The primary responsibilities of this position are:

Maintain machines and equipment in conformance with manufacturer's guidelines and makes necessary repairs for clinic and inpatient program with appropriate documentation according to industry standards.

Performs and documents disinfections and cleanings on water treatment equipment per manufacturer's directions for use.

Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Insures that necessary documentation, i.e., purchase orders and packing slips are submitted to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.

Collects necessary water samples per AAMI standards, trends, reviews and interprets results notifying Regional Biomed, Clinic Manager, or designee and Medical Director of problematic results and reports these findings in quality assurance meetings.

Oversees and evaluates the water system through analysis and direct measurement of operating parameters.

Troubleshoots mechanical problems with machines and equipment.

Performs monthly inspection and documentation to include physical plant and grounds, inspection of center safety devices such as fire extinguishers, fire and security systems, emergency, exit and external lights and immediately reports problems to Regional Biomed Technician.

Maintains all regulated medical waste manifests, logs and MSDS.

Conducts annual water training for new hires and all direct patient care staff.

Education & Skill Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent.

Two years previous dialysis machine experience preferred.

Knowledge of a hydraulics, electronics and/or maintenance of dialysis machines and equipment used.

College coursework in chemistry, physics and electronics is desirable.

Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical and water treatment systems.

Ability to communicate and work harmoniously with others.

Ability to lift objects greater than 50 pounds.

Valid State driver's license.

Leadership and effective communication skills.
