Position Summary: Assist Group Manager with training, supervising, supporting and participating in all Group Department functions, to include greeting and welcoming tour groups, luggage handling, and providing exceptional guest service.

Duties:

Set positive and professional example for other employees regarding appearance, enthusiasm, attitude, attendance and performance

Understand and assist with managing group reservations, room blocks, manifests, special bill accounts, meal vouchers, group meal masters, and all functions related to group traffic and flow

Greet and welcome tour groups

Provide information about the features, services, facilities and amenities of the property

Assist tour groups with room changes, guest requests, complaints, etc.

Operate company vehicle

Assist with transport of guests and luggage

Work closely with the bell staff

Assist the front desk as necessary

Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, activities, local attractions, etc.

Complete Bell Captain and Luggage Handler work schedules as per guest arrivals and departures at multiple locations

Assist with planning, communicating and managing employee work requirements

Assist with fine maintenance schedule and hotel inventory

Supervise employees assuring adherence to policies and procedures

Assist with attendance tracking and management

Communicate with tour operators and other hotel departments and shifts as need to meet guests needs and maintain smooth operation of hotel functions

Observe health and safety precautions required to protect people, and hotel and guest property

All other duties as assigned

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

Valid Alaska Drivers License required

Driving record sufficient to meet company insurance standards required

Previous customer service experience required (hospitality/tourism specific is preferred)

Supervisory experience preferred

Computer and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher) experience required

Experience with LMS hotel operating system preferred

Basic mechanical knowledge preferred

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, to include assessing needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction

Strong written and oral communication skills, to include effectively conveying information to others in large and small groups, and giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as data entry, managing documents and records, and other office procedures and technology

Able to lift 45 lbs. unassisted and 75 lbs. assisted

Able to perform with sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to perform physical activities that include use of legs, arms, fingers, walking, and standing for long periods of time, to include frequently walking up and down stairs; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of computer keyboard; to travel to other locations; to verbally communicate to exchange information.
