Position Title: Houseman

Sophie Station

Position Summary: Perform any combination of cleaning and minor repair duties to maintain property in a clean and orderly manner. Participate in special projects.

Duties:

-Perform duties related to warehouse receiving and inventory

-Assist with cleaning guest rooms

-Assist with cleaning public areas

-Assist with cleaning employee work areas

-Assist with transporting linens, towels, toiletries and cleaning supplies

-Assist with fine cleaning guest rooms and public areas

-Assist with Removing dirty linens from guest rooms and transport to laundry facilities

-Operate scissor lift

-Operate vacuum

-Operate carpet shampooing machine

-Use cleaning solutions

-Deliver items to guest rooms, to include cribs, coffee, room service, rollaway beds, towels, toiletries and other items upon request

-Assist maintenance with minor repairs and upkeep

-Assist with entryway and sidewalk cleaning and snow removal

-Communicate with other hotel departments and shifts as needed to meet guest’s needs and maintain smooth operation of property functions

-Observe health and safety precautions required to protect people, and hotel and guest property

-Report damage, theft, and found articles to management

-Assist with Housekeeper, Laundry Attendant, Lobby Attendant, Luggage Handler and Busser duties as needed

-Operate company vehicle

-All other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

-Valid Alaska Driver’s License

-Driving record sufficient to meet company insurance standards

-Customer service experience preferred (hotel/hospitality specific is a plus)

-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, to include assessing needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction

-Knowledge of principles, methods and motorized vehicles required for moving people or goods

-Communication skills, to include effectively conveying information to others, and giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

-Able to complete tasks in a timely manner

-Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

-Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs., including up and down stairs

-Able to perform with sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand for prolonged periods of time; to perform physical activities that include use of legs, arms, fingers; to walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, reach, twist, tug, push and pull; to operate housekeeping equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, including use of computer keyboard; to verbally communicate to exchange information; to see and hear within a reasonable range for a hotel environment with or without correction.
