Who we are-Mat-Su CHARR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of the hospitality industry members within the Matanuska Susitna Borough. The association provides training programs, legislative and government relations, support with regulatory issues and promotes the industry for its members.

Job Summary-Mat-Su CHARR is seeking a contract Executive Director to lead this growing trade association. Work a flexible schedule of approximately 20 hours a week.

Contractor should also contract with Alaska CHARR to teach the alcohol server education course (TAP). Classes are held 3 times a month and pay is on a commission basis.

Job functions:

Organize and promote events including the annual member meeting.

Prepare for and organize board meetings in accordance to Mat-Su CHARR bylaws with an adherence to Roberts Rules of Order.

Manage gaming while strictly adhering to the State of Alaska gaming regulations.

Provide members of the association with assistance on regulatory issues.

Solicit new members and ensure member retention.

Monitor income and expenses with adherence to the associations budget.

Stay apprised of local & state legislative issues and actions taken by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.

Promote the hospitality industry with in the Mat-Su Borough.

Keep association members informed through Alaska CHARR's bi monthly publication along with emails & social media.

Participate in Alaska CHARR events such as annual convention, golf tournament and Juneau legislative reception.

Job Requirements-

Must be able to lift 60lbs.

Must be able to travel within the state and particularly the Mat-Su Valley.

Must have a valid driver's license and own reliable transportation.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Mat-Su valley resident preferred.

Education Requirements-

High school graduate or equivalent.

Certified in Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP)

Certified Food Protection Manager (ServSafe)

Experience Requirements-

Previous board experience with a knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order.

Must be familiar with Quick Books and able to ensure accuracy of the associations accounts.

Ability to work independently and with flexible hours.

Be familiar with State of Alaska title 4 liquor laws.

Previous experience working in the hospitality industry a plus.

Experience marketing in social media and other advertisement avenues a plus.
