Seeking a motivated, knowledgeable individual to join our Employee-owned company Maintenance team. Apply if you are looking for an opportunity to build a career working for a local, employee owned, growing company that has been serving Alaska for 65 years!

Job purpose

To assist in maintenance, construction and major repair activities. Assumes other responsibilities related to the overall operations of the warehouse.

Duties and responsibilities

Performs regular maintenance schedules, including work order and repair requisitions.

Assists with necessary repairs on equipment or buildings.

Performs routine inspections of facility equipment. Communicates inspection results to maintenance supervisor.

Prepares, organizes and maintains records and written materials (e.g. repair logs, activity logs, etc) to document activities and convey information.

Keeps maintenance areas clean and organized.

Maintains tools and equipment in safe operating condition.

Assists Feed Mill and Fertilizer Plant operators in product packaging and storage. Requires ability to climb elevators (high in places) and confined spaces.

Operates forklifts, man lifts, welders, hand tools, power tools, work cages.

May be asked to assist in production of manufactured goods.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum two years plus experience in maintenance procedures.

Advanced knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Working knowledge of large warehouse operations.

Forklift experience and in-house forklift certification is mandatory.

Familiarity and ability to work with man lifts and work cages is required.

Must be familiar with confined space entry, lock out tag out procedures and warehouse safety practices.

Welding experience preferred.

Must possess a current Alaska driver’s license, and clean driving record.

Must have good communication and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to safely and frequently lift and carry 60 plus pounds.

Job requires heavy physical activity including walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, squatting, crouching and/or crawling, reaching and significant fine finger dexterity.

Must be able to climb vertical ladders 50 foot and higher, using appropriate safety protocol.

Must be able to climb step ladders 12 feet and higher, using appropriate safety protocol.

Must be able to climb stairs.

Must be able to safely use hands and arms in installing, positioning, moving materials (e.g. using heavy wrenches above head while applying adequate torque).

Must be able to carry or move and manipulate hand and power tools and wheeled equipment.

Must be able to work in environments with temperature variations from very cold to very warm.

Must be able to work in confined spaces.

Working Relationship

Works closely with Maintenance Supervisor, Warehouse Operations Manager, Feed Mill operators and Fertilizer Plant operators in a team environment. Must maintain a positive, professional and safe attitude at all times.
