Alaska Scrap & Recycling in Anchorage is now hiring a full time Car Processor to safely and efficiently process incoming vehicles in preparation for recycling.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST be able to pass pre-employment drug testing and background check.

Experience Required: Previous related experience preferred including knowledge of scrap metal industry and materials being processed, automotive systems and components, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Minimum Level of Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Forklift Certification (will provide training)

The Car Processor is responsible for:

Preparing vehicles to be processed, including removal of all fluids, batteries, mercury switches, catalytic convertors and wheels, as necessary

Operating pneumatically powered fluid removal equipment, reciprocating saws, hand tools, etc. to assist in the processing of vehicles

Routine housekeeping and final clean-up of processing area

Operating machinery to position or move vehicles in response to hand or audio signals from crew members

Operating light to medium equipment such as bobcat, forklift, loader, and electric baler

Examining processed materials for defects, potential hazards and to verify conformance to established specifications

Completing production logs and paperwork daily

Completing daily inspection of equipment prior to and after operating, reporting any maintenance needs or to the maintenance department

Safety of equipment and surroundings

Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Ensuring all customer interactions are polite and courteous

Performing other duties as assigned

Maintaining regular and predictable attendance

Skill in:

Safe and efficient use of applicable vehicles and equipment

Interpersonal interaction, positive attitude, and excellent teamwork

Ability to:

Work efficiently under adverse conditions and/or under pressure

Speak and read English to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate with others, including radio and/or cellular phone communication
