DescriptionHumana’s Clinical Trend and Analytics Team is seeking a Principal Data Scientist. The Clinical Trend and Analytics team uses advanced scientific techniques, forecasting, and machine learning to predict financial and clinical outcomes in order to guide investments that improve health outcomes and reduce costs. In this exciting start-up environment, you'll have the opportunity to develop data science processes from the ground up and work directly with decision-making executives to shape the future of Humana's most important strategic initiatives. The Principal Data Scientist uses mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform high volumes of complex data into advanced analytic solutions.ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Data Scientist you will lead a team of scientists as well as provide strategic direction on large scale business problems. You understand challenges in multiple business domains, are able to discover new business opportunities and at times you may not even fully understand what the problem is before starting. The problems we address are significantly complex and we expect you to lead excellence in our data science methodologies. You have scientific and industrial maturity to deliver designs and algorithms that set the standard for the organization. You have a distinct ability to identify and implement robust, efficient and scalable solutions that leverage multiple techniques and/or technologies. You will make and quantify cross-organization trade-offs to implement mechanisms to ensure that benefit persists. You will have a significant role in developing others.Responsibilities

Influence Humana's enterprise population health strategy by championing innovative ideas with analytical teams, business partners, and clinicians. You are recognized as a trusted leader who helps drive results for both the Analytics organization as well as our business partners.

Develop machine learning, and AI solutions to support our key business partners within Humana's Enterprise Clinical Management organization to find opportunities to improve health outcomes and lower healthcare costs

Gain trust and respect by validating and explaining your results, taking ownership of the end-to-end process.

The solutions you develop provide measurable value to our key business partners in the form of accurate estimates, rapid detection of anomalies, and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

PhD + 4 years’ experience OR Master’s Degree + 7 years’ experience

Experience leading enterprise-wide data science projects from scratch to scale

Significant record of publications, exhibiting influence within an industry

Experience interpreting and communicating analytic results to analytical and non-analytical business partners and executive decision makers

Clear oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Ph. D degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics and/or related field

Healthcare or managed care experience

Experience with cloud-based ecosystems (GCP, AWS, Azure)

Experience working in Agile environments

Flexible, dynamic personality who is able to work independently
