Providence is calling a Clinical Database Administrator ( Performance Improvement , Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to St. Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

In this position you will :

Serve as System Administrator and expert database analyst for clinical benchmark database (Premier) and resource for other clinical databases.

Assist or lead design or modifications of storage structures and mappings between databases. Determine search strategies, record relationships, report writing, query techniques and data compression utilities

Manage the CMS and Joint Commission required submission process from population identification through the collection and posting of the data.

Support the Core Measure activity by proactively maintaining expertise in requirements and periodic scheduled changes

Participat and support clinical benchmarking studies and improvement initiatives within SESH and PH&S

Serve as a resource to research, analyze and implement Best Practice modules for physician and clinical practices

Consult with clients (clinical staff, administration, physicians, etc.) to identify data query requirements and conducts complex database queries

Provide physical database definitions and support analysis as required for various clinical database systems. Work with clients to identify database requirements for new projects or changes to existing databases and / or systems

Review all System Office and Regional requirements for clinical databases and related decision support applications. Meet data submission requirements for mandated system reporting.

Analyze all new requirements and iniatitives as to their impact on the organization. Report impact to the appropriate responsible party

Perform database testing and project acceptance testing as required to assure that systems and databases are developed and implemented according to all published standards

Maintain detailed working knowledge of hospital information systems and departmental functions in client areas

Support and train staff and user personnel on specified database systems, tools, and troubleshooting and problem resolution specific to interfaces and databases.

Establish department analytical tools and procedures, and computer system activities. Advise staff on the procedures and operations of new or revised systems and databases

Maintain technical proficiency in the use of graphics, spreadsheets, relational database, word processing, SQL report writing and other report development tools

Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for data abstraction of regulatory data. Assist with data abstraction for different SESH quality inititives, as well as related Performance Improvement teams.

Maintain expertise in requirements and periodic scheduled changes

Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department

Qualifications :

Required qualifications for this position include :

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical health related field

5 years working with various clinical database systems and analysis in a health care environment

3 years experience in the delivery of patient care in an acute care setting

Experience with quality improvement teams

Preferred qualifications for this position include :

Certification as a Health Care Quality Professional

Licensed healthcare professional

Training in computer science, medical information systems or related specialty or equivalent experience / training

St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.

At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions.

We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
