Summer Camp Sport Instructor needed for a local high quality children's summer day camp. The position would be 4-6 days total over a two week period (5/28/19 through 6/7/19), 2 to 3 hours per day. We need an energetic, upbeat sports enthusiast. Physical Education background and experience working with children/teens is preferred. Your duties would include planning and executing lessons and activities for approximately 20 children/young teens. We have a soccer field, playground and basketball hoops available to us at a local school. Sports will be 2-3 mornings a week, 10:00-12:00. A bit more about sports at our camp:
We are based in midtown. We split the campers into groups of about 20 by age - K-3rd grade and 4th - 7th. Each will have 2-3 hours a week of sports.
The goals of our sports program are:
Involve all the campers in the game, focus on teamwork.
Teach campers new skills, games and ideas.
Fun factor - keeping it exciting, interesting.
We have a big range of children who are more/less athletic, older/younger. The goal is to keep everyone having a great time, learning, playing and feeling good about themselves.
Many times we will choose a sport each week and focus on teaching various related skills, drills, and also actually playing the game. We like to keep a good balance of skill learning, and new vs. familiar sports, fun and discipline. Each group would also have 2-3 counselors who would support you during sports.
