Colaska Inc. corporate office is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller at our Anchorage office. Our corporate activities are growing rapidly and we are currently seeking a full-time, office based assistant corporate controller to join our finance and accounting team. Our accounting management team is an integral part to the success of overall operations and works closely with operational personnel to achieve company objectives in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, Colas internal policies and other regulatory requirements. The variety of duties requires that the Assistant Controller to be highly motivated, organized, detail oriented and an effective communicator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in cash forecasting and reporting of net financial position

Prepare, review and analyze financial information to ensure integrity is maintained

Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Responsible for preparations of journal entries, reconciliations and consolidated IFRS & GAAP financial reporting package to parent company

Prepare tax worksheets and support schedules

Assist with external audits and annual financial statement review

Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting

Maintain and develop internal control procedures

Uphold Colas ethics and business principles

Ad hoc projects and reporting as needed

Qualifications/Skills:

A bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in accounting, finance or other applicable degree. At least 7 years of accounting work experience is acceptable for this position.

Ideal candidate will have CPA and/or CMA certification.

Construction industry accounting experience including WIP reporting

Strong knowledge of both GAAP and IFRS including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards

Previous experience managing a small team.

Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and follow-up on multiple concurrent tasks.

Must possess excellent skills with Microsoft Windows and the MS Office package (particularly Outlook and Advanced in Excel). Experience with JDE, Sage fixed assets or other construction software a plus.
