Description

Anchorage Real Estate office is seeking an organized and driven community association accountant. Preference will be given to individuals with both accounting and association management experience. We are seeking an experienced candidate who can work closely with our team to handle day-to-day, monthly, and annual accounting tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communication: Discuss accounting in non-accounting terms; be succinct; keep others informed.

Policy and Procedures: Follow procedures; abide by internal controls.

Month end close: Accurate Financial Statements under close constrain deadlines.

Monthly accounting for accrued and prepaid expenses

Bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance for properties accounts.

Monthly financial reporting, financial statement reporting preparation for distribution to HOA Board of Directors

Periodic account audits and ad hoc analyses and reporting

Coordinate audits and work with auditors

Review draft audited financial statements and make appropriate adjusting entries

Review reserve studies and spending compliance

Create new communities in HOA software including all accounting set ups, late fees set up, statement set ups, etc.

Create billing records in HOA software for all communities’ monthly charges on the first of the month.

Perform AR and AP functions along with monthly reconciliations as requested to help team members

Handle special requests, questions and extra reports from Associations’ Board of Directors

Performs any additional duties or tasks as assigned by their manager.

Requirements:

6+ years accounting

Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements

Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in MS Excel

High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality

Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills

Effective organizational, time management skills

Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

Ability to work independently and as a team member
