The RN reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them; prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted or delegation to other staff.Additional Department Summary: This position is responsible for obtaining the samples from the individuals selected to participate in the Disease Surveillance and Monitoring (DS&M) sentinel testing of The University of Alabama campus population as part of the UA CV19 Support Program.  This position is also responsible for “Wellness Checks” at the Program Headquarters and with testing individuals at other times as directed by the nurse practitioners. Additionally, this position will provide professional nursing care to patients. The RN is responsible for direct patient care activities to the highest degree of their licensure, but will primarily lead participant COVID-19 testing. Continuation of this position will be contingent on funding and length of need of the program.Required Minimum Qualifications: State of Alabama valid/current Registered Nurse License.Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: State of Alabama valid/current Registered Nurse License. Must have a current CPR certification and have used an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role.Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner or other qualified medical professional. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, public relations and customer service and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient centered high quality customer friendly service. Understanding of the need for strict confidentially of protected health information and the requirement to follow HIPAA regulations at all times. Punctual and reliable, understanding that patient care is paramount, and extended work hours are needed during busier clinic periods. Ability to work in a diverse public health response team that serves populations across campus.
