Come Build Your Career Under OUR RoofJob Description:Purpose of Position:Perform operations work that is required to manufacture shingle products, along with related safety, housekeeping, shut down, cleanup, startup, and maintenance work.Key Roles:
Work safely. Avoid at-risk behaviors at all times.
Using standard procedures and technical training, operate equipment and machinery to manufacture product that meets specifications.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
Rotate among jobs in assigned or selected job area (Process or Packaging).
Train less-skilled operators in areas where he/she has superior skill and/or experience.
When serving as a trainer and in association with the Team Leader, recommend qualification to the Production Supervisor.
Perform machine maintenance tasks as assigned.
Primary Accountabilities:
Follow safety policies, procedures, and practices.
Perform work according to established process and quality standards, procedures, and current best practices.
Arrive for assigned shift on time, and relieve operator on the off going shift as soon as clocked in.
Remain at workstation until relieved by the oncoming shift operator.
Perform operations associated with the workstation.
Perform shut down and clean up work for PMD.
Perform start up work after PMD.
Attend, participate in, and contribute to Production meetings.
Make adjustments to machine in operational area and report notable changes to oncoming operator.
Train in job skills for each workstation in job area if training as a backup Team Leader.
While operating, observe the machine and process, troubleshoot process problems, and report machine problems through written Maintenance Work Orders.
Perform regular and routine cleanup and housekeeping of workstation as outlined by the Housekeeping Checklist for that work station, and of other areas as directed by the Supervisor.
Production Operator Hiring Profile
HS Diploma or GED
Able to work as a part of a team with a diverse group to accomplish business goals.
Good written skills.
Ability to use basic communication skills of expressing and listening in a respectful manner.
Proven ability to deal with work related stress and change.
Experience working in a continuous (24 hours/day) manufacturingshingle line operation.
Has demonstrated mechanical process aptitude and understanding of cause and effect relationship and ability to apply that to the manufacturing process.
Is in good state of health with reasonable vision and hearing, physical strengths, stamina, and reasonable mobility with the willingness and ability to climb such that he can perform the essential functions of the job.
Demonstrated ability to learn multiple job tasks.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing problems.
Ability to perform machine maintenance tasks.
