First Class Fitters & Welders Needed:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Production Standards/Mechanical Ability:
o Fits and assembles structural frameworks, sub-assemblies, machines and housings from materials, such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using handtools and welding equipment and following blueprint specifications
o Examines blueprints and materials list to obtain parts specifications
o Lays out parts dimensions and sets up base pieces (plate, beams, etc) on floor using chalk line, squares, levels measuring tape and soapstone
o Tack-welds and braces parts and sub-assemblies to minimize distortion due to welding
Welds as First class welder
o Positions parts in jig and files, chisels, and grinds parts, as indicated, to fit them together
o Periodically compares dimensions of assembly to blueprint specifications, using square, rule, and measuring tape
o Must have the basic ability to perform structural, plate and pipe fitting
o Provides own personal trade tools
o May do all of the above independently, requiring little supervision
Quality Standards:
o To understand and complete labor or time sheets accurately
Safety:
o To maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards
- Proper use of personal protective equipment
- Proper use of safety devices, such as lock out, as required
- Safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma, GED or three years work experience in metal fabrication as a fitter and welder
