Position Summary :

This position is responsible for customer service and overseeing the daily operations (sales, customer service, merchandising and maintenance) of the showroom as well as filling in as a Sales Associate when needed.

This position is also responsible for the development, motivation and ongoing training of staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Assists / Supervises Sales Associates on sales floor to ensure customer satisfaction

Follows and ensures staff adheres to company policies / procedures

Meets established regional sales standards by motivating sales staff

Conducts continuous development and training of associates including guidance and direction to staff

Gains / Provides knowledge of sales techniques, merchandise and packages through formal sales training, on the job trainings and / or meetings for continuous knowledge and improvement

Partners with various departments to ensure employee and showroom functionality

Recruits / Retains staff through interviews, maintaining a positive work environment, team building and team appreciation

Completes opening and closing procedures including handling damaged merchandise on floor, light cleaning, ensuring proper tag displays are with merchandise, and ensuring an appealing showroom appearance.

Protects company assets through sequencing orders, maintains accuracy with Inventory Issues on load slips and "take orders", and ensures an accurate inventory count by properly tagging merchandise

Ensures sales staff follows up with customer as necessary (including thank you cards and UOR reports)

Resolves customer inquiries and provides excellent customer service

Completes price overrides and Team Opportunities (TO) for sales associates

Completes truck preparation such as communication with buyers for needed merchandise, refreshes product and proper tags are created

Unloads / Loads vehicles without damaging merchandise, following safety guidelines and following load out procedures including scanning inventory, tagging inventory, cleaning, verify transfer merchandise is correct and ordering any missing or incomplete inventory

Ensures overall showroom appearance achieves a maintenance score of 85 or higher and maintains an office audit score of 80 or higher

Balances the cash drawer, completes deposits and prepares the cash reconciliation report according to guidelines

Follows office procedures (check acceptance, return / reselects and finance applications)

Completes various reports (COD, Take Report, Research / Correction Report, Petty Cash Report, and UOR)

Ensures office paperwork is accurate, neat and complete

Answers multi-line phones with professional telephone etiquette

Utilizes various computer programs to process payments and finance applications, answers delivery questions, and resolves customer inquiries

Communicates operating needs and issues to Store Management and Upper Management

Performs Sales Associate tasks during holidays and / or during peak business times

Performs other duties as required

Employment Standards :

Knowledge

Customer Service techniques

Computer skills and general office skills

Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook

Merchandise knowledge including packages and regional sales standards

Education

High School Diploma / GED preferred

Experience

Must have 1-2 years of management experience (retail or furniture preferred) or college equivalent

Must have retail sales experience, Rooms To Go experience preferred

Must be 18 years of age or older

Essential Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with customers, managers, and other associates

Excellent customer service skills preferred including handling difficult customers professionally and following up, as needed

Excellent leadership and team work, courteous and helpful with staff, contributes to a positive work environment

Excellent organizational skills preferred with ability to handle multiple priorities, meet demanding deadlines and adjust to sudden changes in workflow

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to resolve problems involving several variables, think outside the box, suggest corrective action, and resolve customer inquiries and issues

Good analytical and mathematical skills

Ability to keep customer and employee information in a confidential and private manner
