Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Senior Wire Harness Design Engineerto join ourSpace ExplorationOrganization inHuntsville ,AL . The successful candidate will become part of Boeing'sSpace Launch Systems (SLS), which supports NASA on strategy and policy on Space Exploration programs procured by the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The primary program under NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) will provide a critical heavy-lift capability powering people and cargo beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther in our solar system and is the most powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, science and security missions. Boeing Space Launch System is responsible for the design, development, test and production for the core stage and avionics of the SLS.This position will encompass development of flightwire harnesses, support the harness design integration install drawing development and improvements in design for harnesses and installs.Position Responsibilities:Provide support todesign integration, vehicle integrationand suppliersDevelop and maintain cable/wire harness detail and assembly designsLeads the team to analyze results and performs design reviewsProvides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests)Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commoditiesPerforms technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitateproduct delivery, monitoring and acceptance / rejectionWork Authorization:The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. Government authorities.Basic Qualifications(Required Skill/Experience):Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry14 or more years of experience with Electrical Engineering (or Master’s +12 / PhD +9 years)1 or more years of leadership experiencePreferred Qualifications(Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with wire harness routingExperience in understanding requirements and how to apply them to vehicle design and ability to problem solve design issuesExperience in the defense or aerospace industryPTC / Pro-E CREO CAD tool experience, or similar CAD experienceNSPAR parts approval process experienceUnderstanding of NASA-STD-8739.4 for vendor certificationCapable of working in a multi-tasking environment while supporting multiple activities concurrentlyTypical Education / Experience:Education / experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience).
