JSEG EEE Parts Failure Analysis EngineerDescriptionJacobs is seeking an EEE Parts Failure Analysis Engineer to join the Jacobs SpaceExploration Group (JSEG) at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville,AL. Among otherprojects, this work will support development of the Space Launch System (SLS)which will be the largest launch vehicle in history. Join our team on the Engineering Services andScience Capability Augmentation (ESSCA) contract, and be a part of thathistory.This work will be in support of the NASA Space Launch system as wellas other current and future NASA programs or projects in the EEE PartsEngineering, Analysis, and Packaging Branch (ES43) at MSFC.The successful candidatewill provide failure analysis support which mayinclude failure analysis and testing of EEE parts to determine failuremechanisms, probable causes and root causes, specifying screening/testingrequirements, performing EEE parts screening/testing, assisting introubleshooting EEE parts failures, screening EEE parts types to assure areliable supply of EEE parts, providing advice, consultation and review offailure analysis of EEE parts within electrical/electronic assemblies andsystems Interpreting test results and preparing technical reports for internaluse, project office status, government publications, or relevant scientificpublications, and providing engineering insight and evaluation on partsscreening and parts failure analysis performed by outside sources on programswhich may include:

Space transportation systems

Scientific instruments

Ground support equipment

Special test equipment

Interfaces

Power distribution

Component, hardware, and system verification

Grounding equipment

Electrical Ground Support Equipment (GSE)

Monitoring of designand fabrication activities

QualificationsMS degree in ChemicalEngineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, or Science. Must have 1-3 years experiencewith scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and able to interpret energy dispersivespectroscopy (EDS) data. Familiarization with Fourier Transform InfraredSpectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), optical microscopytechniques, and operation of real time x-ray equipment are preferred. Applicantmust possess effective communication skills and a thoroughknowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).Essential Fu nctionsWork EnvironmentOffice and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (5%).Physical RequirementsRequires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities (10%).Equipment and MachinesRequires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).AttendanceNormal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job.
