The Role in BriefAssociate Data EngineerAre you a data enthusiast who seeks to tease out meaning from complex data flows and assets? Are you a talented problem solver who can transform abstract problems into elegant technical solutions? We are looking for an Associate Data Engineer to join our team of data engineers focused on designing, creating, and delivering data solutions as part of our state-of-the-art cloud-based products. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build a world-class data and analytics solution help our higher education clients solve challenging problems through data. The critical responsibility of this role is the end-to-end development and maintenance of highly performant ETL and SQL based transformations as well as designing and implementing interactive business intelligence reports and dashboards as part of EAB’s analytics technology solutions.Opportunities based in Birmingham, AL.Primary Responsibilities:

Design, build, test, deploy and maintain interactive analytic products and features using designated business intelligence solution

Codify high-performing SQL and ETL data flows for efficient data transformation

Investigate and report on complex data interactions to facilitate data research in support of analytics development efforts

Partner with product managers and other data engineers to define product feature requirements

Provide production-level support and troubleshooting for clients and customer-facing teams, serving as the subject matter expert

Produce customer-facing user guides, support and training documentation

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or other quantitative degree

Outstanding problem solving, quantitative and analytical reasoning skills

Experience creating data visualizations to summarize quantitative information

Familiarity with relational database concepts

Experience using SQL to cleanse or transform data

Excellent analytic and troubleshooting skills

Strong written and oral communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while meeting deadlines

Ideal Qualifications:

Demonstrated mastery in one or more SQL variants: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2

Demonstrated mastery in database concepts and large-scale database implementations and design patterns

Experience working with large volumes of data

Experience developing ETL pipelines

Experience developing logical data models within a data warehouse

Experience developing reports and dashboards with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or GoodData

Experience working in an AGILE environment

Experience developing commercial software products
