Tecta America, the nations largest Commercial Roofing contractor has an opening for a Shop Mechanic in our Irondale, AL location. This is a full time position. We have dozens of types of equipment that are operated in a very harsh environment. The equipment needs to be cleaned, repaired and preventative maintenance performed.

The equipment includes but not limited to: generators, riding lawn mowers, 4 wheelers, blowers, pressure washers, sweepers and light towers. We also have some equipment that is used specifically in the commercial roofing business. The successful candidate must be able to work without close supervision, must have dependable transportation, experience with 6-25 hp Honda, Briggs and Kohler engines, must have excellent problem solving skills. Must be able to work in a safe manner. Candidate must have a valid drivers license, be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Tecta Shop Mechanic/Steward

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Repair all equipment in a timely manor

2. Create and impliment a preventative maintenance program for all equipment. 3. Perform all necessary preventaive maintenance on all equipment. 4. Track all repairs made to the equipment.

5. Perform minor fleet maintenance (wipers, headlight bulbs,)

6. Locate, order and maintain reasonable stock of needed parts.

9. Inspect and cull out obsolete equipment.

10. Provide a weekly summary of work completed.

1. Change pull cord

2. Water in fuel/carberator

3. Change outlets/circuit breakers on Generators

4. Change Capacitors on generators

5. Tire repairs on generators, 4 wheel carts, lawn mowers

6. Replace fuel pumps on Honda, Briggs and Kohler engines

7. Change oil, filters and plugs

8. Change fuel filters, belts, fuel lines

9. Replace handles on shovels, brooms, axes and maddox

10. Repairing trailer lights

11. Replacing wood decks on trailers

12. Prep, prime and paint equipment when necessary

13. Sharpen Axes, maddox

14. Replace blades on spud bars

15. Small engine swaps
