SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION

Supervises the materials, planning & logistics in a professional manner insuring accurate and timely flow of information while optimizing use of inventory, minimizing costs of manufacturing and delivery.

TASKS OF THE POSITION

Review MP&L Processes and Procedures on an ongoing basis, updating as necessary and documenting those per ISO and company guidelines.

Assist Purchasing Department with customer demand issues, direct & indirect materials purchases, deriving schedules for receiving, production & shipping.

Set up, improve, and standardize documented business processes on MRP and other systems in conjunction with other MAI operations.

Inform internal and external customers and suppliers of material flow issues to minimize cost and maximize accuracy.

Report/verify internal and external delivery results

Supervise cycle count activity, notify appropriate groups of discrepancies and implement counter measure as required.

Disposition nonconforming delivery items (incoming, outgoing) with respect of our customer and our internal standards and reporting.

Supervise the productivity, safety, and quality achieved by the team

Maintain MRP system for inventory control, and other systems as needed.

Organize, plan, and execute annual physical inventory.

Verify specialized production packaging and delivery parameters.

Supervise dispatch of material carriers, and finished goods to customer.

Supervise material flow and storage.

Manage and expedite disposition of delivery incidents.

Generate reports regarding cost of non-delivery, failure rates and customer complaints.

Creation of instructions relevant to flow and delivery.

Assist in establishing packaging and delivery requirements in the product planning phase.

Investigate complaints and collaborate with the areas responsible to devise and then take the corrective actions.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Manages several tasks and projects at any given time.

Possesses strong organizational, priority/time management, problem solving, conflict resolution and judgment skills.

Speaks effectively before groups of customers or associates of MAI Companies (GLA, GSA, IA).

Communicates problems involving complex and confidential situations to plant Human Resources and seek guidance and direction at all times.

Ability to effectively demonstrate written communication skills to compose and/or edit written materials, reports, and correspondence.

Ability to interpret safety rules, customer schedules, operations standards, and procedure manuals.

Ability to use data to drive decision making.

Knowledge of computer systems; familiar with Microsoft Office products.

Must build and sustain positive communication with customers, suppliers, company peers, and associates.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Hands on and working knowledge required of each station/area on assigned shift.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory.

Must be able to continuously lift 30 to 75 lbs. and occasionally carry a distance of 30 to 50 feet. Tasks that require continuous reaching, kneeling, grasping, twisting, bending, leaning and extension of upper body.

Perform job requirements of a Production Associate as needed.

Work daily assigned shift to include overtime, up to and including production Saturdays, shutdown days, and holidays as needed.

Supervise and support all company policies including ISO 9001 2008/ISO 14000 and QOS adherence (where applicable) and MAI Companies' (GLA, GSA, IA) Associate Handbook and Safety Manual.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Supervises Materials Analyst, Team Leaders, and Production Associates. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these associates in accordance with the MAI Companies' (GLA, GSA, IA) policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION (EDUCATION / TRAINING)

Bachelor's degree preferable in or related field or 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. APICS certification preferred.
