NOW HIRINGVolt is seeking Senior Manual Machinists in Auburn, Ca. Manual Machinists is responsible for setting-up and operating manual machining equipment in order to produce products to customer requirements with little to no supervision.Major Responsibilities/Activities:Operates equipment to produce parts that meet customer specifications. Inspects parts against requirements.Completes all paper or computer based reporting on jobs or parts as required in a timely and accurate manner.Provides on the job training to other employees on product requirements, equipment operation, inspection techniques, and other department operations.Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve manufacturing processes in support of efforts to increase standardization, reduce costs, reduce cycle times, improve safety etc.Assists management and supervision in developing process improvement initiatives.Cleans and organizes workstations, equipment and tools.Additional Responsibilities:Operates all equipment and machinery and performs all activities according to established safety standards in support of Morgans zero injury goal (see Equipment Matrix).Performs preventive maintenance on machines/equipment. Identifies and relates repair needs to maintenance/supervision.Initiates and/or implements continuous improvement actions in support of Company and department goals such a set-up time reduction, lean manufacturing, 6-S etc.Treats all other employees with dignity and respect; communicates in a positive and constructive manner to solve problems in a team environment.Follows all Company policies and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Education/Certifications/Specialties:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:2 or more years of machining experience.Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and safe working practices.Knowledge of mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.Knowledge of equipment operation techniques - i.e. speeds, feeds, tooling, etc. Knowledge of standard measuring techniques and instruments. Certified Operator status recommended.Setup and run (Surface Grinders, Myford OD/ID Grinder, Manual Mill, CNC OD Grinder, Centerless, Blanchard, Hones, Drill Press, CNC Mill, etc.)Essential Functions:Typically stands and moves about for entire work shift to operate equipment and fulfill job responsibilities. Includes walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, reaching, squatting, pushing and pulling and repetitive hand, arm, wrist and leg motions.Frequently walks inside and outside to access other production buildings.Regularly adjusts, assembles, controls, tests and operates required tools and equipment to produce product. Interprets product blue-prints, work instructions and other written documents to meet customer and quality specificationsFrequently talks to and listens to co-workers and supervisors regarding product status and issues. Communication is face to face or via telephone.Maintains a friendly, stable, cooperative demeanor.Typically monitors equipment for effectiveness by observing operations, viewing monitors and distinguishing changes in equipment noise.Constantly monitors product quality through visual and tactile inspection of parts.Frequently transports products from and to production areas with weight of up to 50 lbs.Regularly uses industrial chemicals and materials for cleaning and processing parts.Constantly uses required personal protective safety equipment including eye protection, hearing protection, breathing device/respirator equipment (as required).Frequently enters or retrieves data from a computer station requiring the operation of a keyboard, mouse, bar coding wand and use of a monitor.Regular and predictable attendance is required.Volt is an Equal Opportunity Employer
