Landscape - Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader
Auburn, AL based landscape company has an opening for an experienced Landscape - Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader. We've been in business for over 20 years but have remained relatively small with slow steady growth. This position is to maintain high-end commercial and residential properties. The primary responsibilities for this job are mowing, trimming, edging, blowing and weed control in the bedding areas and hard surfaces. Other crews will take care of the other job responsibilities (pruning, lawn care, annual rotation, etc.) Secondary responsibilities include touch-up work for services previously mentioned because this crew services properties weekly while the other crews do not. January - March this crew will also assist in applying mulch and pre-emergent herbicides. The ability to operate mowers without scalping, create straight lines within specified mowing patterns and acute attention to detail are a must. We're looking for someone who can come in, prove their value and begin to teach and mentor their helpers. Past experience is required. You will NOT be overloaded with properties. You WILL be given ample time to execute, with perfection, the properties you're given.
Experience Required:
Experience operating Walker brand grooming mowers
Experience operating traditional zero-turn style mowers
Experience operating walk-behind and ride-on blowers
Experience mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, limb pick-up & spraying herbicides (Round-up)
Experience completing Spring scalping and Fall leaf removal
Experience driving 1 ton pick-up trucks with 16' enclosed trailers
(3) years Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader experience minimum.
Skills Required:
Effectively communicate with clients to ensure job satisfaction.
Supervise and manage crew of 1+ helpers
Monitor all tools, equipment and machinery for needed maintenance.
Perform pre-use vehicle circle checks, and perform pre/post-use equipment evaluation for fluid levels, wear and tear, and proper settings.
Proficiency in equipment operation and safety.
Ability to train individuals in technique and safety.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 30+lbs regularly.
Ability to operate company 1 ton truck with attached enclosed trailer.
Ability to maintain order and cleanliness of jobsite throughout service visit.
Ability to maintain order and cleanliness of company vehicle and trailer.
Ability to complete jobs within budgeted time.
Highly motivated and self- driven to find ways to improve job skills and grow within the company.

Required:

Overview:
(10) hour days; (40) hours/week; Monday - Thursday (Friday is rain make-up. No rain no work!).
6:30 am - 5:00 pm (central) with mandatory 30 min. job-site lunch break
Available Friday/Saturday for rain make-up days (only when absolutely necessary - we work hard to keep weekends free).
Hourly pay based on experience; More than willing to pay your worth!
