Planate Management Group is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, USA with a technical support center in the Philippines that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies.

The Construction Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the evaluation and recommendation of the site and subgrade conditions on construction projects of The Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation Structure Replacements along Lake Okeechobee in Clewiston, Florida.

The project has been awarded and shoud start immediately.

Key responsibilities:

Conducts laboratory and field testing to determine the engineering properties of soils, rock, concrete, soil cement, concrete aggregate, and asphalt aggregate

Perform basic laboratory tests on soil and concrete and preparing reports of results

Prepare detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations provided

Provide daily reports of observation and test results

Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications

Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data

Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues

Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

Degree in civil engineer or equivalent

Minimum five years' experience in horizontal construction projects

Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to apply basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment

Shall be physically capable of walking over rough terrain and standing long periods of time.
